My thesis research is focused on measuring enhanced CO₂ sequestration into ultramafic mine tailings using soil gas flux chambers and an eddy covariance system. These techniques, used ubiquitously in agricultural and environmental sciences, will be used for the first time in a geologic context. Field trials at several locations within British Columbia and internationally hope to validate previous modelling and estimates of the drawdown potential of mines.
